I’ve come to realize that emotions aren’t enemies.
They’re simply parts of ourselves—just the parts that are more honest, less rehearsed.
Sometimes they take the wheel.
We say things we regret, act before we think.
But without emotions, we’d lose our humanness.
Reason tells us how to walk,
emotion reminds us why we walk.
Emotions Are Not Mistakes
Emotions are signals.
They whisper:
“Something feels off.”
“This part of you needs attention.”
“This wound still aches.”
Anger, anxiety, sadness—they’re not problems to fix, but messages to listen to.
When you try too hard to “control” them, it’s like turning off the alarm.
The noise stops, but the fire still burns.
Presence · Reason · Emotion
Over time I began to see how these three work together:
- Presence is the ground—your quiet, centered self that remains steady.
- Reason is the compass—it gives clarity and direction.
- Emotion is the fuel—it gives warmth, movement, and depth.
Presence keeps you rooted.
Reason guides you forward.
Emotion makes life alive.
Take one away, and everything tilts.
Emotion Shapes Who We Are
Everyone feels differently.
Some are calm, some are fiery, some are deeply sensitive.
Those differences aren’t flaws—they’re the outlines of your character.
Real growth isn’t about “having no emotion.”
It’s learning to move with your emotions—
to see them, understand them, and walk alongside them.
Not ruled by them, not repressing them.
Just... aware.
A Few Ways to Be with Emotion
- Pause first. Don’t rush to fix or analyze.
- Name it. “I’m frustrated.” “I’m scared.” “I feel left out.”
- Listen to it. What is it trying to protect? What truth is it pointing to?
- Give it space. Even ten deep breaths can change the way it feels in your body.
- Then decide if you want to act.
The order matters:
not suppress → then act,
but accept → then choose.
Being on the Same Team with Yourself
I no longer fight my emotions.
They’re not here to destroy me; they just want to be heard.
I let presence be my center, reason be my compass, and emotion be my light.
When everything flows in its own rhythm,
you stop feeling at war with yourself—
because at last,
you’re on the same team.
